Gaston County man feels ‘real good’ after winning $100,000 prize

Sunilkumar Desai of Gastonia is the latest winner of a $100,000 prize in the Ultimate 7’s game.

“It felt real good to win,” Desai said.

He bought his Ultimate 7’s ticket from his store, Waco Stop & Shop, located on Cherryville Road in Waco.

Desai claimed his prize Friday. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $70,756 and said he will use the money to go on vacation and pay off some bills.

The $20 game launched in May with four $2 million top prizes and eight $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million top prizes and three $100,000 prizes remain.

In the scratch-offs section in https://nclottery.com/Winners, it will be useful to filter out winners by lottery type. Currently, all the winners are shown that is not very intuitive.NC Lottery

NEW SCRATCH TICKETS for October. There will be a new 1.00 LUCKY 7(played the same as Lucky 7 now, been out since 2014) The New 2.00 ticket is played the same way the Fat Wallet. Since the government sent out the free money the lottery has cashed in. They know it. They took the $20 dollar tickets and made the main prizes 2 million instead of 4 million. They took the Jumbo bucks a 750k prize that didn't have a annuity and made it a million with a annuity now you take home 408k versus the 510k you used to take home after taxes. It's a dirty deal but that's the way it is. I have been going to the casino more and more last week won 15K. That's a bigger win than 12+years playing our lottery. Thanks for posting

@Mark. I'm not surprised. A store owner told me something similar to your story. I don't play as much as I used to since it seems to be a trend and plus it's a waste of money ??

@Tony... that is crazy! I used to win on the $30 Colossal but lately the $10, $20 and $39 games are crappy. I think it's a set up. They claim money is going to help schools and the government is doing the same...auditors are needed lol.

@sheila....out of the 4 drawings on the keno 2nd chance MOST ALL those prizes have been claimed. ( 100 winners a wk. each won a pack of 100 tickets each. ( whole roll, if you will) ZERO winners have yet to claim the top prizes of 75K or 5K. Drawing # 3 also has an odd location for winner #99 as nc, NC, dunno bout that one! lol

While most lottery retailers in NC report having a "No Play on Duty" policy for employees, there is no law in NC barring retailers or their employees from playing the lottery. However, our security team checks all winnings and ensures that lottery prizes are only awarded when there is no evidence to suggest something is wrong.

Sheila,one more thing if you want to increase your chances of winning a big prize you need to move to Fayetteville,i have said this before and its a fact, you see more consistent big winners there than anywhere else,that's one reason a while back they tried to quit showing the names of towns and cities and they are probably not even showing a lot of the winners anyway because of this.NC Lottery

Sheila,you must realize one thing,the NCEL is designed to be a 'POOR MANS TAX'it offers false hope to the poor and middle class,for the most part,the people of N.C. have been EXTREMELY generous to the NCEL but their not going to make the odds any better,a store owner told me he had a good customer of his buy 10 Millionaire Makers in a row and didn't win anything.NC Lottery
