$1 million prize won in Mega Millions drawing

Someone who bought a Mega Millions ticket at a Wayne County convenience store won a $1 million prize in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing.

The lucky winner purchased the ticket at the Handy Mart on U.S. 70 West in Goldsboro.

The $2 ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win the $1 million prize. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 12.6 million.

The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.

Two lucky tickets sold in California and Florida will split Friday’s $494 million jackpot. Since the jackpot was won on Friday, Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot will reset to $20 million as an annuity prize or $10 million cash.Odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.

North Carolinians can play for a $454 million jackpot − $232.6 million cash − in Saturday’s Powerball drawing. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Players can buy Powerball or Mega Millions tickets at any lottery retail location, through Online Play on the lottery’s website or by using the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Ticket sales from draw games make it possible for the lottery to raise on average more than $2.5 million a day for education.

Hi there, Robert! If a player purchases a ticket through Online Play, they will receive an email notifying them of their win, as well as a notification when they log in on our site or app. Similarly, when players win Lucke-Rewards or second chance drawings, they are also notified via email. Players that purchase tickets through retailers can find out if they're a lucky winner by scanning their ticket on our app or at a lottery vending machine, or you can manually enter your ticket's Lucke-Rewards code on our site.

You can also do manual ticket entry from that same screen if you are unable to access the scanner.
