Powerball drawing will be held as soon as possible

The Powerball drawing scheduled for Monday, Nov. 7 remains delayed, so please hold onto your tickets.

The drawing will be held as soon as all procedures are completed by the 48 jurisdictions involved in the drawing.

The delay occurred due to one participating lottery needing additional time to process its sales and play data. All other 47 lotteries, including the N.C. Education Lottery, completed the required security procedures in a timely fashion.

Powerball is eager to hold its drawing for the world record jackpot, however, protecting the integrity of the draw is of upmost importance, even if that means a further delay.

As soon as the required security procedures are completed by the one outstanding lottery, the drawing can proceed.

We, like everyone else, are ready to see if someone won the jackpot or other big prizes in this historic drawing.

Thank you for understanding that the most important thing is that the drawing is done fairly for everyone.

If the vendor cannot get tickets sold on time then the tickets should not be included. What state was the vendor in that did not get the tickets in on time with the November 7 2022 drawingNC Lottery
Hi, Sophia! The delay was not due to selling tickets - the ticket sales were cut off at the same time as usual. The delay was due to one of the participating lottery jurisdictions needing additional time to process their sales data. Powerball has strict security measures in place to ensure integrity in all drawings, including making sure that all jurisdictions have completed processing and have met all security protocols before conducting the drawing.

Hi, Sallie! No tickets were sold for a drawing on 11/8. The 11/7 drawing was delayed to the morning of 11/8, but ticket sales cut off on Monday night at the same time as always. Any tickets purchased after that cutoff would be for the next drawing, which is tonight (11/9).

To provide some clarity on the situation - last night, the Minnesota lottery systems had a delay with processing sales and play data for their state prior to the draw time. Thus, the drawing was delayed to ensure they could process all data and meet all of the strict security protocols in place for Powerball drawings. The drawing was conducted this morning after everything was verified and this morning's drawing was conducted under standard procedures. We apologize for the delay - this likely stemmed to high sales volume due to the large jackpot. Rest assured that all security measures were still taken and auditors were still present to ensure the integrity of the draw. Again, we appreciate everyone's patience with this situation and apologize for any inconvenience, frustration, or confusion caused by this delay.

This is not right. I believe it was stalled to see who actually had the winning number so that it can be changed. I know I won if the results would have been shown on time by looking at my numbers and the numbers shown today. It is not fairly done. It's like you choose who you think should win, an where it should be won. But I'm still sending them the best wishes.

If there wasn't enough time to process all of the ticket sales in a jurisdiction then it seems like the best thing to do is when the jackpot reaches large amount that the cut-off time to process the sales has to be earlier than normal in jurisdictions where processing an abnormally large number of sales might bog the system down.
