Gaston County man pockets $100,000 on scratch-off

Dennis Armstrong of Gastonia took a chance on a $20 scratch-off ticket and won a $100,000 prize.

Armstrong bought his lucky $2,000,000 Diamond Dazzler ticket from Gates Food Mart on Lowell Bethesda Road in Gastonia. He arrived at lottery headquarters Thursday to collect his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,016.

The $2,000,000 Diamond Dazzler game debuted in January with four top prizes of $2 million and eight $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million prizes and four $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

What's the answer to my question regarding the day the NEW SCRATCH TICKETS ARE OUT???? Take the commercial off its not true.New tickets are always out before 1st TUESDAY!!!! ThanksNC Lottery
Hi Darlene, First Tuesday is when we officially announce new tickets, but we do start to distribute the tickets to stores a couple days in advance. This is because it takes a few days to get the tickets out to all the stores and we want to be sure that new tickets will be available everywhere on First Tuesday. For this reason, you might find new scratch-offs in stores before the First Tuesday announcement.

Has anyone else noticed how in the past 3 years just how much the NCEL lottery has changed the odds on scratchoffs and number of prizes,especially on $10,20 and $30 tickets.you only have top prizes on $20 scratchoffs of 2 million now and hardly any other large claimed prizes.you basically can only win $100.That’s nothing but GREED BY THE STATE IN ORDER TO COLLECT MORE REVENUE??.Sad that they can’t be satisfied and let people be able to enjoy doing the scratchoffs .I’m done with them

Thanks for advertising the NEW SCRATCH TICKETS, now it's true the lottery should change the commercial 1st Tuesday. They were out on MAY 1st. an online says start date May 2nd which is TODAY MONDAY!!!Winners already. REALLY!!!

Good for you, I know that you deserved it. I'm not a hater I feel God and the universe has a way of balancing things out and when it comes to luck it isn't random it's foforetold well before the event. So I have to say with just making it this far to be able to congratulate another for winning something that I feel they deserve feels good to know I'm gaining wisdom. I know I've actually one many times and if I win the big one as far as money then That will be appreciated and if not well that's cause I've won already and balance is the key. GodBless
