Paul Jackson Jr. of Lexington tried his luck on a $25 scratch-off ticket and won a $100,000 prize.

Jackson, owner of The Drive-Thru on Randolph Street in Thomasville, bought his Spectacular Riches ticket at his store.

He collected his prize Thursday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,017.

The Spectacular Riches game debuted in October with eight top prizes of $1 million and 20 $100,000 prizes. Four $1 million prizes and 10 $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Can I comment to Charles ? Store owners don’t know what tickets are winners, they have the same odds as anyone else. If store owners knew what tickets were winners don’t you think all store owners would always buy wining tickets? Also when they get the packs they are enclosed and they have to pay the lottery for all the tickets . So yea could they scratch the bars off to see if they are winners of course but they also have to pay for every ticket they scratch and could potentially be out a ton of money .

He needs to be disqualified, store owners have no right buying from the store they own. If this one doesn't spell r-i-g-g-e-d I don't know what does.NC Lottery
Hi, Charles! While there is no law in North Carolina barring retailers or their employees from playing the lottery, more than 80 percent of all lottery retailers in North Carolina report having a “No Play on Duty” policy for employees, including 99 percent of corporate retailers such as grocery and convenience store chains. Lottery prizes are only awarded when there is no evidence to suggest something is wrong.
