Winston-Salem man collects $322,865 Cash 5 jackpot

Rolf Ozamiz of Winston-Salem took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won the $322,865 jackpot in the March 3 drawing.

Ozamiz claimed his prize two days before his ticket’s expiration date. Winners have 180 days to claim their prize before it expires.

Ozamiz bought his lucky Quick Pick ticket from the Speedway on Yadkinville Road in Winston-Salem. He arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to collect his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $229,267.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through a retail location or Online Play, either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Tuesday’s jackpot is $146,000.

This is a reply to the comment about the pick 4 and pick 3 . They advertise that with fireball you increase your odds of winning but it seems like the chances of winning anything will decrease majorily since taking away the 1 off and sum it up. The only way I win usually is on the sum it up or 1 off. Now everyone’s chances of winning at least something are going to be the same odds as winning the whole thing. Why are y’all taking away the sum it up and 1 off? Why not just add the fireball to all of that , so people have a chance of winning something . People won’t play as much if they never win anythingNC Lottery

Unrelated, but I saw that there will now be fireball for pick 3 and pick 4. I’m very sad to see Sum It Up go away, it was the only reason I could win in those games. I’ve tried fireball in SC and it’s awful, if you don’t believe me just look on SC Lotto website for the low amount of fireball winners lol sometimes it’s 2 digit numbers. I think it’s finally time for me to retire from lotto altogether. After 14 years of playing, I bid all of the players good luck. Goodbye :)
