Mecklenburg County woman wins $200,000 scratch-off prize

Celise Redmon of Charlotte took a chance on a $5 ticket and won $200,000 in a new game.

Redmon bought her lucky Lincoln ticket from Mountain Island BP on Vinnies Way in Charlotte. She collected her prize at lottery headquarters Monday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $142,021.

The Lincoln game debuted this month as a part of the Cash family of games with six $200,000 prizes. Four $200,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Thank you Tiffany C.for agreeing with me......to the N.C Lottery you write me everytime the same comment but tell me why between 90 and 95 percent of the time I look on your news page someone from Charlotte and Raleigh win big tickets and there are a hundred counties in nc and it is Mecklenburg county and Wake county always.

Hi, Bobby! It's not easier to win the lottery in a big place than a small one. There are just more people taking a chance to win there. We can assure you that if you move to Charlotte or Raleigh it does not become easier to win a lottery prize there. The lottery can only work if everyone has the same chance to win, and no matter where you live you have the same chance to beat the odds as someone anyplace else!

It seems like all the winning tickets in Charlotte area and Wilmington area come on people I live in Bailey and i buy $5 tickets i only won $500 that's the most i ever won been buying tickets since the lottery started but anyway Congratulations

So true Angela I play I my area and yet to see winnings other than o e time. It us always Charlotte area and even second chance rewards are garbage. I log on every ticket. Starting feel like it's New Bern, Charlotte, Wilmington.

I just am not buying this population thing. There is a lot of money being spent in my area yet no big WINS I know big money is being spent, because I am one of the one's who spending it yet I have never WON anything BIG nor a second chance. Someone knows where these big win tickets are going. Come on NCEL spread the wealth! The "LOADED 500" ticket was a great ideal yet I have not even won a single one, but buy one of those tickets every store I see them.
