North Carolinians have a shot at the fifth-largest jackpot in U.S. history tonight as the Mega Millions jackpot now stands at $1.1 billion.
A North Carolina winner would have the choice of taking home the $1.1 billion jackpot as an annuity or $576.8 million in cash. The $1.1 billion jackpot represents the third-largest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions game.
Even though the jackpot remains up for grabs, North Carolinians all across the state are taking home lots of other great prizes. Friday’s drawing produced one $30,000 prize in Fayetteville and four $10,000 prizes from Charlotte, Boone, Winston-Salem, and Belville.
The Mega Millions jackpot has been on a roll with 24 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. The last win came in the Oct. 14 drawing when two tickets in Florida and California split a $502 million jackpot. The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.
Players can buy Mega Millions tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the lottery’s app, the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
