Cabarrus County man wins $100,000 Powerball prize

Michael Kindley from Concord tried his luck on a $3 Powerball ticket and won a $100,000 prize in the Jan. 14 drawing.

Kindley bought his lucky Quick Pick ticket using Online Play through the lottery’s website. He matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. The prize doubled to $100,000 when the 2X Power Play multiplier hit.

Kindley claimed his prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $71,259.

Wednesday’s Powerball drawing offers a $653 million jackpot, or $350.5 million in cash. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Powerball is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The other games are Mega Millions, Lucky For Life, and Carolina Cash 5.

I’m curious about online play. If someone promised to split their winnings and vice versa, and you win online, how do you split the online winnings?NC Lottery
Hi there, Patricia! Online Play purchases are tied to one player's account, and wins of less than $600 are automatically deposited into that account. Wins of $600 to $99,999 must be claimed online. Winners would need to split the winnings as they choose after claiming their prize and withdrawing their winnings.

The NCEL 877-962-7529 phone number automated voice said the Pick 3 was 000 and Pick 4 was 0000 for tonight's drawing. It's different on the website but I want my money for 000 and 0000.
