Mega Millions offers fourth-largest jackpot in the game’s history at $940 million

North Carolinians have a shot at the fourth-largest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions game Friday night as it now stands at $940 million.

A North Carolina winner would have the choice of taking home the $940 million jackpot as an annuity or $483.5 million in cash. The $940 million jackpot represents the sixth-largest jackpot in U.S. history.

Even though the jackpot remains up for grabs, North Carolinians are taking home lots of other prizes as Tuesday’s drawing produced more than 84,000 winning tickets. One $2 ticket matched four white balls and the yellow Mega Ball to win $10,000. The winner purchased the ticket using Online Play in Advance in Davie County.

The Mega Millions jackpot has been on a roll with 23 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. The last jackpot came in the Oct. 14 drawing when two tickets in Florida and California split a $502 million jackpot. The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.

Players can buy Mega Millions tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the lottery’s app, the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

These lottery folks know what they're doing.. it's "game".They KNOW what state, city, county and area these big scratch offs. It's areas they wouldn't put them in. I've figured (that) much out.Same with the Mega Millions and Powerball.NC Lottery
Hi Ebony, no one knows where a winning ticket will be sold. Scratch-offs are created in a secure printing process, and winning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire printing run of each game. Then they're divided up into packs and the inventory is stored securely before being distributed to retailers by the lottery's sales staff. Where a winning ticket might show up is a complete mystery until a lucky player scratches one off!

I agree no has ever won close to my home town which is Lillington NC Fayetteville but not Lillington I mean we all need to win spread the love.

What a load of nonsense. Don’t buy into the hype, fellow players! This jackpot will not be won by anyone in NC. Either it will be won by someone in California or New York, or it will continue to swell until it rivals the last major Powerball jackpot — when it will be won by someone in the Deep Blue Sea.
