Gaston County woman wins $100,000 on new scratch-off game

Joyce Gilchrist of Gastonia tried her luck on a $5 scratch-off ticket and won the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game.

Gilchrist bought her lucky Fire ticket from Times Turnaround on South New Hope Road in Gastonia. She arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to collect her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,251.

The Fire game launched with four top prizes of $100,000. Three $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Instead of Gastonia, what did you say Charlotte? Most of the winning ticket come from either Charlotte or Raleigh. They’re going to say most of the players are from that area That’s why most of the winners are from that area blah blah blah blah.NC Lottery

Glad for their win but the lottery should be embarrassed to pay out a 100k on a 5 dollar ticket. Should be 200k minimum. Sad day for players!
