North Carolina ticket wins $2 million in Saturday’s Powerball drawing

A lucky Powerball ticket in North Carolina won $2 million in Saturday’s drawing.

The $3 Power Play ticket came from the Murphy Express on East Gannon Avenue in Zebulon. The ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win $2 million.

The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 11.6 million. The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.

Monday’s Powerball drawing offers a $1.04 billion jackpot, or $478.2 million in cash. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Powerball is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Hi, Angela! If you're a lucky winner with an Online Play ticket, you'll receive an email notifying you of your win and that email will include instructions on how to claim your prize. Wins under $600 will automatically be deposited into your Online Play account. Wins up to $99,999 can be claimed entirely online, and claims for wins over $100,000 can be started online but will need to be completed in person. Depending on the amount won, your win notification email will provide instructions for claiming your prize!

I believe you mistakenly referred to the 2x multiplier relative to the $2 million prize. Powerball always pays $2 million for 5 numbers if Power Play is purchased regardless of the multiplier.NC Lottery

Hi, Beatrice! For Powerball, the number of printed tickets doesn't matter - all that matters are the numbers chosen on those tickets! The odds of winning Powerball are based on the odds of matching all numbers correctly to win a prize. That said - we always love seeing more NC Lottery winners, it just takes a lot of luck!
