Charlotte woman bags $1 million scratch-off win

Angelita Blackstock of Charlotte took a chance on a $30 scratch-off ticket and won a $1 million prize.

Blackstock bought her lucky Millionaire Maker ticket from RaceWay on Brookshire Boulevard in Charlotte.

When Blackstock arrived at lottery headquarters Monday, she had a decision to make. She could choose to receive her prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump-sum amount of $600,000 and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $427,509.

To the nc lottery everytime i or others post something like I posted yall say the same bull crap all the time I get tired of it for one be truthful and open your eyes......and to nc lottery answer this question give me a percentage from January to now and give me how many scratch off tickets and other games from Charlotte and at least 20 or 30 miles of Charlotte and don't be scared I will be waiting???NC Lottery

Hi, Bobby! Anywhere there are more chances being taken to win—for example Raleigh or Charlotte—the odds will play out more often there over time. You'll have a larger volume of both winning and non-winning tickets in proportion with the odds. That has no effect on the likelihood of a particular ticket winning or not winning a prize, whether it be in a big city or a small town. It has to be that way in order for the lottery to be fair to everyone.
