Charles Javins of Fayetteville now has the chance to make a career change thanks to a $100,000 win.
“I’m using this money to kind of springboard me out of that business altogether,” said Javins, a retail store manager, “and get back into the automotive industry. I was a service manager at one time. So, I’d like to get back to that.”
He took a chance on a $30 ticket he bought at the 7-Eleven on West Franklin Avenue in Gastonia, scratched it and realized it was a winner.
Javins claimed his prize Monday, and after required federal and state tax withholdings took home $71,259.
“I don’t have too much need for anything else but I did want to change careers. I want to send my parents on a vacation too. Those were the two important things.” The rest, he says he will put into savings.
