Twice lucky: Mecklenburg County woman wins $336,759 jackpot years after $1 million win

Nha Duong of Matthews won her second big lottery prize when her $1 Cash 5 ticket produced a $336,759 jackpot.

She previously won $1 million on a Hit $5,000 scratch-off in October 2018.

Duong purchased her lucky Quick Pick ticket from the Circle K on Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Matthews. She matched all five white balls in Friday’s drawing.

Duong arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday to collect her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $239,941.

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through a retail location or Online Play, either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598. Thursday’s jackpot is $120,000.

We can not click on the recent drawing of Multiply The Cash to see if winners have been notified. Nothing happens when we click. Nothing. Several people have complained about this. It’s been this way since before the drawing even took place because we could not click and open it to see our total entries. Please fix the app.This is ridiculous to have so many people experiencing the same problem and nothing being done about it. NC Lottery

All these winners in certain areas, are justified by the most population in a city. The more population, the more people who are playing. My county I live in is about 8 to 10,00 population. But there has never been a big winner in my county, yeah, a man won a 100,000 off a scratch offs, who was from this county, but purchased it in Sanford, not in his county he stays in. So that doesn't count as if it was in my county. Yeah, a school teacher won off a second chance drawing, she was from my county. I believe all the big winning tickets are sent to the largest population in the state. More people, more winners who are playing.

Does anyone else have trouble seeing the winners for the second chance drawings? The draw boxes are not activated to open them to see your entries or past winners(example..the multiply the cash drawing that ended on March 31,the box will not open. I have reported this several times with no luck.HELP NC Lottery

i always look to see who won the second chance drawing .....example last weeks and all the other winners are listed ....but not 2nd chance ...when you look under winners NC Lottery

Hi Jami, if you were to move to Charlotte you would have exactly the same chance of winning a prize as you do now - you'd just have more neighbors. When someone in Charlotte wins a lottery prize, the whole city does not win a prize, only the one person who was lucky enough to find a lucky ticket. It's the same deal no matter where you live, you just have to be lucky!
