This week, students in North Carolina can apply to many state colleges and universities for free as part of College Application Week that runs through Sunday. The program could save families hundreds of dollars on their college journey.
The Countdown to College, a statewide campaign from the College Foundation of North Carolina, prepares students for higher education throughout the month of October. That includes help with completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for a NEXT NC Scholarship funded, in part, by the North Carolina Education Lottery.
The new scholarships can fully cover tuition and fees at any community college or more than half, if not all, tuition and fees to attend any public university in the state for most North Carolinians making $80,000 or less.
Last fiscal year, the North Carolina Education Lottery funded nearly $44 million in scholarships and grants to make college more affordable for students in North Carolina. Find out all the ways the lottery benefits education in the state here.
The countdown is on, so don’t miss out.
We collect stories of how scholarship funded with the help of the lottery makes college dreams come true as part of our Moving NC Students Forward program. You can see those videos on the Moving NC Students Forward website. Do you have your own Next NC scholarship story? Share you story and you could earn $2,000.
