Asheville lottery office closed through Friday

The N.C. Education Lottery’s regional office and claim center in Asheville will remain closed through Friday, Oct. 11, as the Western North Carolina region continues to recover from damage from Tropical Storm Helene.

As of Monday, water service has not been restored to the office and it remained unknown when water service would return.

If lottery players in the region want to claim lottery winnings and have access to safe roads, they can claim any prizes under $600 from a local retailer and any prize under $100,000 at the Charlotte or Greensboro claim centers while the Asheville office remains closed. Here is additional information that could assist lottery players in the region while the Asheville office remains closed.

• Any player who has won a prize in a draw game such as Powerball or Carolina Cash 5 has 180 days from the drawing to claim a prize.
• Any player with a prize on a scratch-off game has 90 days after a game ends to claim a prize.
• All lottery drawings will be held as scheduled.
• The lottery’s Raleigh headquarters and its other regional offices and claim centers in Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, Greenville, and Wilmington are operating on a normal schedule.
