Johnston County man bags $150,000 digital instant win

Sheldon Piggott of Clayton tried his luck on a digital instant game on Friday and won a $150,000 prize.

Piggott won his big prize playing Big Crush Multiplier. In the game, a player can play from 50 cents to $30. Piggott played $30 to win the $150,000 top prize. The odds of that win are 1 in 2 million.

He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Monday in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Piggott took home $107,259.

Digital instant games are played exclusively online on the lottery’s website or on the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Thirty-three different games are available to play online now.

Play Smart, Gift Smart is the N.C. Education Lottery's annual campaign highlighting the risks of youth gambling. The campaign raises awareness that popular holiday scratch-offs should only be gifted to adults. In this year’s campaign, North Carolinians can donate school supplies at a lottery claim center, support a good cause, and get a chance to win a prize. Visit NCEL Play Smart for more information.

Hi, Dustin! We're sorry to hear this. It's important to remember that there is only ever a chance to win, never a guarantee. That's true whether you buy 1 Digital Instants play or 10. We wish every play could be a winner, but prize money comes from non-winning plays. That's why it's important to play for fun, knowing it takes lots of luck to win a prize! We hope you, and all of our players, will only play if you're enjoying yourself. If you're not having fun anymore, we recommend taking a break.

Hi, William! We are here to help, but our social media team doesn't have those numbers on-hand. We recommend submitting a public information request at https://records.lotterync.net and someone will try to find the info you're looking for.
