Durham man snags $150,000 scratch-off prize

Carlos Reyes Maldonado of Durham tried his luck on a $5 scratch-off and won a $150,000 top prize.

Maldonado bought his lucky ticket from the Tiger Mart on West Club Boulevard in Durham.

He arrived Thursday at lottery headquarters to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $107,251.

The Holiday Gold game debuted in November with four $150,000 top prizes. One $150,000 prize remains to be claimed.

Congrats! @NCEL I have been trying to find all the Christmas tickets, because I see there are still some good prizes out; however most of the stores I visit don't have them. Would it be possible to add a spot on the Prizes remaining page to say if Headquarters is out of stock, so as players we know the remaining WINNERS are out in stores and not just sitting on a shelf at Headquarters. Just like the blue X50 ticket still had a top prize yet the game ended and we have this new X50 to start over buying these duds!
