Moore County woman cried after winning $100,000 on a scratch-off

Amy Douglas of Cameron became emotional when a $20 scratch-off purchase turned into a $100,000 prize.

“I cried,” Douglas said.

She bought her lucky $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe ticket from the Prince Mart on Wilson Road in Sanford.

“We bought it because it looked pretty,” Douglas laughed.

She arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim her prize and, after required tax withholdings, took home $71,506.

Douglas said she plans to use her winnings to pay some bills and pay off her mortgage.

The $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe game debuted in December with four $2 million top prizes and eight $100,000 prizes. Four $2 million prizes and six $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Scratch-offs are a rip off! I can guarantee there is only ONE scratch-off in the bunch that pays big but the majority are duds which is why I stopped buying them. They should make it easier for more people to win big.

Hi, Shirley! Each combination has the same odds of being drawn in each drawing (1 in 1,000) regardless of popularity or when it was last drawn. Past results have no bearing on future drawings, so the same combination could have been drawn yesterday, a week ago, 3 years ago, or never, and it would still have the exact same odds of being randomly drawn in the next drawing!
