Surry County man celebrates $250,000 scratch-off win

Lindy Inman of Mount Airy tried his luck on a $5 scratch-off and won a $250,000 prize.

Inman bought his lucky 20X The Cash ticket from R Stop on West Pine Street in Mount Airy.

He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Tuesday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $178,751.

The 20X The Cash game debuted in February with 10 $250,000 top prizes. Five $250,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Surry County received a $1.7 million school construction grant from money raised by the lottery to support education programs in the county. For details on other ways Surry County benefited from lottery funds, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
