We’re joining lotteries across the U.S. today to celebrate July 17 as National Lottery Day.
Lotteries have been around since the founding of our nation, but have never been as popular as they are today or raised as much money for good causes.
The Pennsylvania Lottery raises money for senior programs. The Colorado Lottery raises money for outdoor programs. North Carolina, like other southern states such as Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia, use the proceeds to support education. Nationally, lotteries raised more than $30 billion last year for good causes.
Your lottery, the N.C. Education Lottery, now raises more than $1 billion a year for education programs. It’s never been easier to see where that money goes. Visit the Education page of our website and you will see how that money supports education in your county. Pick up a brochure at the Play Center at your favorite lottery store.
Our Moving NC Students Forward campaign also captures stories of how the money raised by the lottery makes a difference all across our state.
Go to our Moving NC Students Forward website to:
- Watch how a new school built with help of lottery money became “a game-changer” for Clay County.
- See how the lottery’s support of the NC Pre-K program opens up a world of opportunity for four-year-olds.
- Hear how financial aid, supported by lottery funds, makes college dreams come true.
- Learn how school staff, whose positions are funded by the lottery, keep schools safe and clean for students.
If you have a story to share, you could be featured in a video too and earn $2,000. Celebrate National Lottery Day by checking out our Moving NC Students Forward website.
This is National Lottery Week and we’re celebrating our retail partners, our community partners, our education partners, our employees, and all who play lottery games.
Good luck. We hope you get to celebrate National Lottery Week with a big win.
