Lincoln County man collects $1 million scratch-off win

Maurice Young of Lincolnton tried his luck on a $50 scratch-off and won a $1 million prize.

Young bought his lucky $10 Million Spectacular ticket from Kingsway on North Aspen Street in Lincolnton.

When Young arrived to collect his winnings, he had a decision to make. He could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. He chose the lump sum of $600,000 and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $428,801.

The $10 Million Spectacular game debuted in December with five top prizes of $10 million, 20 prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $100,000. Three $10 million prizes, seven $1 million prizes and nine $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

I think only the County where a winner won should be given out, and even that’s scary. I think NC gives out entirely too much personal identifiable information that could leave winners vulnerable to criminals. You all need to do better at protecting the identity of winners. Be like 11 other States and allow for anonymity! It’s time!NC Lottery
Hi, Patricia! This decision is up to NC legislators - we'll never make a winner share more than what's required by law. If a player has concerns about their safety when claiming a prize, we recommend they speak with authorities or advisors before coming to lottery headquarters to claim!

WOW, Lincolnton has had a lot of big hits last few weeks, Mary Young won a million in Lincolnton on this same kind of ticket and a Rachel Sadler won 4 million on the Supreme 7's in Lincolnton, that's a whole lot of luck in one town, but I's sure they're all happy about that, best wishes,
