Lincoln County woman enjoys $1 million scratch-off win

Mary Young of Lincolnton tried her luck on a $50 scratch-off and won a $1 million prize.

Young bought her lucky $10 Million Spectacular ticket from Silver Express on East King Street in Kings Mountain.

When Young arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday to collect her winnings, she had a decision to make. She could choose to receive her prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump sum of $600,000 and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $429,014.

The $10 Million Spectacular game debuted in December with five top prizes of $10 million, 20 prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $100,000. Three $10 million prizes, eight $1 million prizes and nine $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

My little town has never had a top prize win.. congrats to you...I figured all the scratch off tickets I've bought weren't getting me nowhere...I turned to the 2nd chance...5837 entrys later..not a dime...I gave up y'all..I enjoyed playing though. Gud luck to all
