Beverly Lipford of Goldsboro continues his lucky streak as he just became one of 12 finalists to have a chance at winning $1 million as part of the NASCAR Powerball Playoff™ promotion.
Lipford moved from the final 16 into the final 12 after an announcement during the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday.
“I got that feeling that I’m going to go all the way,” Lipford said after finding out that he was a finalist.
Lipford’s luck started when he entered and won the NASCAR Powerball Playoff™ second-chance drawing in May. He was then randomly selected from a national pool of Powerball players during a preliminary drawing on Aug. 13. The 16 finalists were publicly announced Sept. 1 during the broadcast of the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
The 12 players left will continue through a series of drawings similar to the elimination rounds of the NASCAR Playoffs. The four lottery players left after the final elimination drawing will win a VIP trip for two to NASCAR Championship Weekend™ in Phoenix, Nov. 8-10, plus entry into the drawing for the $1 million prize.
In addition to a possible $1 million prize, the VIP trip includes roundtrip airfare for two to Phoenix, Ariz., three nights hotel accommodations, Ally Curve Hospitality Club passes for both the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race on Nov. 9 and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race on Nov. 10, and two passes for VIP experiences at Phoenix Raceway during the NASCAR Championship Weekend.
The $1 million announcement will be broadcast live during NBC’s pre-race coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race™ on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The next elimination drawing will occur on Oct. 13 during the Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The four players eliminated will win $5,000 each.
