Getting ready for new Mega Millions game

January 7, 2025 Posted by NC Lottery at 11:16 AM
image-photo

Coming this April, Mega Millions will get a “mega” overhaul with improved odds on faster-growing jackpots.

However, you may notice some changes to the Mega Millions game much sooner as we prepare for that switch. After the Mega Millions drawing tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 7, the number of upcoming drawings you can purchase tickets for will start to be reduced.

The reason is simple. New game rules will go into effect with the first new drawing on April 8. So, you don’t want to buy tickets for drawings after that if the game rules are changing.

So, after the Jan. 7 Mega Millions drawing, the number of drawings you can purchase tickets to play, currently 26 drawings, will slowly be reduced. By Feb. 14, for example, you can purchase tickets for just the next 15 draws. The process continues until, finally on April 4, tickets can only be purchased for that day’s drawing.

On March 18, all Mega Millions Online Play auto-renewals will be canceled. The auto-renewal option will be unavailable until April 5. In the meantime, you can still purchase Mega Millions tickets up to the April 4th draw, either with Online Play or at your favorite retail lottery store.

When the new Mega Millions game begins on April 5, players will be able to once again purchase tickets for up to 26 drawings, just like they did with the older versions of the game, and players can again choose the auto-renewal option when buying their Mega Millions tickets.

The first drawing under the new game rules will be on April 8.

Here are some of the enhancements that come with the new Mega Millions game:

  • Improved odds to win the jackpot
  • Bigger starting jackpots
  • Faster growing jackpots
  • A built-in multiplier on every play, up to 10X, automatically improving every non-jackpot win – up to $10 million for matching the five white balls
  • With every win, prizes will always be more than the cost of the ticket

Tickets for the improved Mega Millions game will be $5 per play. This marks only the second ticket price change for the game since the first ticket was sold more than 20 years ago.

We hope you are excited for the new and improved Mega Millions!

Mega Millions is now off my menu. 150% price increase is unacceptable.

3/28/2025 01:41 - carey m.

I’ll pass. My lottery purchases have been declining for a while now. Now, for me, Mega is out, altogether.

3/28/2025 11:39 - Richard B.

I'm still mad over the increase to $2, so this one really irks me. I definitely won't play as much.

3/28/2025 11:35 - Beth W.

With all the negative comments, regarding the increase in ticket price, the NCEL should pay close attention! $5 a ticket is absurd, and it appears from all the comments, everyone else thinks so too. Will some people pay this? Sure, they will! But I also think many more folks will bow out. This is a horrible decision by the NCEL and I think after the "changes" take place, they'll realize that.NC Lottery
Hi, Beth! Mega Millions is run by a consortium of several different lotteries. The NC Education Lottery, or any other single lottery, does not make decisions regarding how the game works - these decisions are left up to that consortium.

3/27/2025 09:22 - Lloyd A.

Too expensive!!! You won't get faster growing jackpots as most people will not play nearly as often. It's just a sign of your greed.

3/27/2025 09:01 - Michael H.

I remember when you increased the megaplier from $2.00 to $3.00 per quick pick, you promised to double the starting jackpot from 15 million to 30 million (I can't remember the exact amount you promised). Then when the pandemic hit, you decreased the starting jackpot back to the previous low amount when quick picks sold for $2.00 per ticket. You still charge $3.00 per megaprier quick pick. Mega Million has lost all credibility. I "bet" you will decrease the starting jackpot again to the original low amount, but still charge $5.00 per quick pick.

3/27/2025 06:47 - Ken W.

Powerball it is then. I bet Mega tanks in sales with this $5 nonsense

3/27/2025 12:33 - James D.

Nope

3/26/2025 04:40 - Steve W.

Not enough details here to see I will continue to play. All I know is there are changes...not what the changes are or why.NC Lottery
Hi, Steve! You can find more details in our latest blog post here: https://nclottery.com/NewsBlogDetails/2025/3/25/New-Mega-Millions-brings-bigger-jackpots-and-better-odds-to-win.

3/26/2025 03:50 - David S.

No thanks! $5 is way too high!!

3/26/2025 07:00 - John K.

5 bucks too much. Bye bye

3/26/2025 05:48 - Natasha M.

Nope! Ridiculous. I'm done.

3/26/2025 12:39 - Michael S.

No thank you—I will not pay $5 for a ticket. I will play Powerball Lottery

3/25/2025 09:21 - Thinh P.

already a scam, now a bigger scam. nice try mega shitz

3/25/2025 11:05 - JAMES W.

been playing 19 years - regular - now $5 ticket - SEE YA - you just screwing with us now - Good Luck

3/24/2025 08:30 - Judy G.

$5 tickets too much, might buy one now

3/24/2025 06:40 - Bruce A.

After the change I will no longer be playing this game. Thank you for saving me $4 per week.

3/23/2025 04:21 - John D.

I will never play again. You guys are getting greedier every year.

3/22/2025 07:53 - Jacqueline M.

$5 per play plus multiplier (why I play( )? Uh .. bye bye ?? mega millions. Too expensive for my odds of winning.

3/21/2025 09:05 - john s.

Where will the extra $ 3 go too. The lottery was supposed to support Education and Senior Citizens. NC legislators very cleverly reduced the State funding for Education and now rely on the lottery.

3/21/2025 08:33 - Ebony T.

$5 is cruel and unreasonable. When I first started reading, I assumed it might be jumping to $3. But $5? That's just cruel, unreasonable, and greedy. I'd take slower growing jackpots any day for $3 vs. $5. That's wild. I'll literally never buy a ticket at that price unless the jackpot is SUPER huge. And then then I'll just buy one, vs. the several I'd buy before. Congrats, yet again, even the hope and ream lottery is slowly becoming only for rich people. More and more rich people who don't need money winning jackpots. Sooooo fair....not.

3/21/2025 05:29 - roy f.

BOYCOTT!!!

3/21/2025 05:23 - roy f.

5.00 NOT

3/21/2025 03:53 - Allen B.

I aint paying 5$ a ticket

3/20/2025 04:13 - michael s.

the multiple is in and i only ever get the 3 dollar tickets so 2 extra for with bigger lower prizes works for me I'm IN for sure....:)

3/19/2025 10:22 - robert h.

I play two sets of numbers every play and buy the multi-draw, if it goes to five dollars a play I STOP playing!

3/19/2025 08:45 - Mark D.

No more Mega Millon's for me at $5 a game stop being greedy you will find out the hard way

3/19/2025 05:53 - Perry W.

Well, you've priced me out of participating. The rich get richer, how convenient.

3/19/2025 12:44 - Leonard S.

Oh I see the game now! So when the Mega Millions jackpot hits $2.2 billion, you know people are going to jump in, regardless of the price per ticket! Interesting strategy! LOL... and for $2.2 billion, I'll probably jump in!

3/19/2025 12:38 - Leonard S.

At $5 dollars per play, I will not participate in the Mega Millions lottery!

3/18/2025 08:42 - Donald K.

will no longer be playing due to price increase

3/18/2025 08:05 - Jerrin F.

Ooh. After reading through the comments, almost forgot that so many people hold on to the lottery as a lifeline because of the way the lottery has been positioned and advertised to "exploit" (from my observation and in my opinion) the poor. Yeah, this isn't such a good idea from that standpoint. A lot of people are desperate to get ahead in life and this is ruining a lot of people's chances at that dream - or at the least pushing it farther away. I hope everyone finds a way to get out of their financial situation. I know - I've been there and had to dig myself out with two and a half jobs and drastic cuts on everything but what was needed. There's definitely not an easy way to get out of poverty or a bad financial position in America and when you look at the lottery, it feels like it's designed that way on purpose.

3/18/2025 07:56 - Jerrin F.

Eh, $5 increase is okay for me, I guess. My little "dream fund" money I spend shouldn't take that big of a hit. Still only gonna be $20 bucks a week on this, and only AFTER all other major bills, expenses and savings (emergency and general savings) have been taken care of. Still seems like a greedy money grab, as many things do, but let's see what happens. I'm not really caring about the jackpot increase as $5 to $10 million MAX is more than enough for my lifetime. But hey, let's see what happens, I guess.

3/18/2025 06:30 - Cathy d.

Guess it was only a matter of time that prices go up…. I can’t afford to play as much.

3/18/2025 01:41 - david s.

Stop Buying Mega Millions while am ahead!!!!

3/18/2025 05:23 - Lisa B.

Nope not paying $5 per ticket. Was enough when you went to $2. You just cured me of playing Over it.

3/17/2025 11:42 - Larry F.

I'm excited for the changes! I used to play 2 tickets for each draw, so now I'll just play 1 ticket, which is fine.

3/16/2025 08:31 - Gary S.

Looks like power ball is going to get my money now.

3/16/2025 03:08 - randolph s.

It's not a product or service, so idk how it needs to increase in price...but if it does, it needs to be a reasonable adjustment....2.5x more is ludicrous...won't be playing anymore

3/16/2025 08:42 - Jeron P.

Shiut out to whoever wins in California.

3/15/2025 08:10 - Tony S.

I guess only billionaires can afford to play now.

3/14/2025 10:50 - Tamara C.

NOPE NOPE NOPE

3/14/2025 07:59 - Marcia M.

$5 for each play? I suppose that there will still be an extra charge for the megaplier? No, not excited at all.NC Lottery
Hi, Marcia! With this game change, the Megaplier will automatically be included with every ticket at no additional charge.

3/14/2025 06:15 - Mark B.

greed /gred/ noun intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. "mercenaries who had allowed greed to overtake their principles"

3/14/2025 02:39 - Bryan B.

$5? It was fun while it lasted. I'm out.

3/14/2025 07:00 - Clyde L.

I normally purchase two tickets for every drawing. I will not be playing anymore at the new price.

3/13/2025 01:01 - Leslie K.

$5 per play? You must be out of your minds. See later . . . someday maybe.

3/12/2025 07:57 - James A.

Definitely gonna play.

3/12/2025 01:32 - Norman B.

I'M OUT! I waste to much money on the games already

3/12/2025 05:34 - SUSAN M.

Too expensive. will not be purchasing

3/11/2025 07:32 - william j.

The rent is too damn high and so are these tickets.

3/11/2025 12:41 - Jimmy R.

It's about time they added more money in the lower brackets for Mega millions, not happy about the $5. Also, I wish you guys could get the website working properly. I can't merge my account with my android phone. I've had the account for a while.NC Lottery
Hi, Jimmy! We're sorry you're experiencing this issue. If you reach out to our Online Support team at https://nclottery.com/Help, a member of our team can look into this for you and try to help get this fixed.

3/10/2025 02:31 - Ronald V.

Who makes these decisions? 150% increase? There is no rationale for this kind of increase. Please reconsider.NC Lottery
Hi, Ronald! Decisions affecting Mega Millions are made by the multi-state lottery association that oversees this game.

3/09/2025 02:58 - Jennifer W.

Crazy to have the price go up like that. I prefer smaller ticket prices and smaller prizes. Allows more people to participate.

3/09/2025 06:03 - Laurence T.

I enjoy playing the Mega Millions lottery. $5 per play is a little high for me but I am willing to give it a chance.

3/08/2025 01:37 - Christopher C.

Nope

3/08/2025 10:25 - Sidney D.

why can i not see the number of entries i have NC Lottery
Hi Sidney, are you having issues seeing Lucke Rewards promotion entries, Second Chance entries, or both? Apologies for the issues, our web team is aware there are some system issues, and we working to address them. Thanks.

3/08/2025 10:21 - Sidney D.

how about putting the rewards points back to the way they use to be cant even get enough points to enter anything worth while with out spending like $1000 a week and you talk about playing RESPONSIBLY it only wants you to have to play more to get more points

3/08/2025 02:19 - William B.

Since March 4,2025 I have been unable to enter tickets for Lucky-Rewards or both Mega Million tickets and Power Ball. why?NC Lottery
Hi William, there was an issue with our Lucke-Rewards ticket entry recently, but that issue is now resolved any points you should have seen in your account should now be added. If you continue to have any issues with Lucke Rewards, please reach out to our online play support team at https://nclottery.com/help Thanks!

3/07/2025 11:28 - RHONDA S.

Nope I won't buy anymore.

3/07/2025 09:17 - rose s.

No will not pay $5.

3/07/2025 05:10 - Holly H.

Highlighting that there's only been a few price hikes in 20 years is moot for a "product" with such limited returns. Schools get built, class sizes increase, and occasionally teachers get an increase. That's the function of the education lottery. If there's such an increase with little return then my purchases should get tax write off status.

3/07/2025 03:20 - David L.

Nope, won't do. Done with the Mega Millions

3/06/2025 11:15 - bruce s.

The price went from $1 to $2 because less people went to the store during the pandemic from Covid. I thought that was a load of horse shit but now for five dollars a ticket they can shove that right up their ass cause I will not buy it.

3/06/2025 07:45 - Howard S.

NO MORE MEGA MILLIONS!

3/06/2025 12:42 - Darren B.

Same here, $5 per play is way to high. I heard this was coming and I don't see as an improvement. It's a hike any way you look at it.

3/06/2025 10:55 - carl w.

TO expensive will stop playing get real what is the point you do not mention the odds in your comments and you have not addressed lick rewards issues to dateNC Lottery
Hi there, Carl! We'll share more details about the new game odds soon - stay tuned! And our web team is working to get the issues affecting Online Play and Lucke-Rewards resolved as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to have this fixed soon.

3/06/2025 09:33 - Ron M.

Hello, not sure why there is an increase especially over double. Will continue to play the lottery for $2 but with PB using the funds I used for Mega Millions. At this time they our keeping the game fun with a $2 ticket. Oh My Mega Millions what are you doing!!

3/06/2025 02:53 - Michele B.

Wow!!This price hike is ridiculous! It's going to force many of us to stop playing weekly. Who are these "exciting changes" really for? Certainly not the players!

3/05/2025 07:58 - James W.

ridiculous increase ... will no longer play the Mega after April 8th ...

3/05/2025 07:58 - Chester D.

Sorry will not be playing after the increase.

3/02/2025 07:36 - Ulysses C.

Too much of an increase. Smh. Crazy

3/02/2025 08:08 - Jack R.

150% increase in price is way too much. I will not pay that. You should have left it at $1 per play.

3/01/2025 07:39 - Philip D.

Far too expensive. Won’t be playing after the price goes up.

3/01/2025 07:40 - David W.

Just like the price of cigarettes.it got sooo many to quit…..thanks

2/28/2025 01:07 - Jamie B.

Ah, total shocker, yet another money grab. The day the price goes up will be the day I stop buying tickets.

2/28/2025 06:52 - Daniel E.

5 dollars per play is too much. I am disappointed in your rate change and will have to rethink even playing this game any longer.

2/27/2025 10:40 - Michael J.

Excited!??

2/26/2025 08:30 - Robert S.

I'm out

2/25/2025 10:57 - Katherine F.

Once again, people who can least afford an increase in price and who desperately need a chance at even the slightest opportunity to improve their finances are being left out in the cold. I DON’T NEED AN AUTOMATIC MULTIPLIER. I just want a chance to win something! You only have succeeded in removing hope from so many people.

2/25/2025 05:58 - Terry W.

Do you automatically get the Megaplier on each ticket for $5.00?NC Lottery
Hi, Terry! Yes - the Megaplier will be included with every ticket once the game changes on April 5th.

2/25/2025 02:47 - Christa D.

Ok, that will be a NOPE for me...$5 is too much!

2/25/2025 02:42 - Glen R.

Absolutely ridiculous. I guess at least you found away to save me money. Best reason to quit playing. BTW it will be $72 a week on just Mega you will be losing. I already barley win anything on Powerball so double that of i just let both of them go.

2/25/2025 01:30 - Abuyazeed A.

Like it very much

2/25/2025 12:12 - Merle William O.

More winners. Ridiculous odds. Playing for multiple months to win a billion dollars is foolish. Lower the total numbers. Increase the number of winners.

2/24/2025 04:11 - kim t.

I hope this works better for the consumer more than the FIREBALL does for Pick 4. That genius idea ruined any opportunity to win a little back every now and again. You guys keep finding ways to try to create more revenue for your side of the table. It will eventually wake some up.

2/23/2025 10:21 - Stephen R.

How are they improving the odds to win? Reducing the numbers to 50 and Mega ball to 15 would be nice.NC Lottery
Hi, Stephen! We'll have more info on the new odds for Mega Millions soon.

2/23/2025 12:24 - Vincent K.

I purchase tickets weekly based on a budget $2 x 3 sets of numbers x twice a week = $12 / week. When the new rules start, I will be buying $5 x 1 set of numbers x twice a week = $10 / week. So Mega Millions will be receiving $104 less from me each year. Might not sound like much but if others budget the way I do, Mega will be seeing less cash inflow.

2/22/2025 02:34 - Kim L.

$5 is very high considering the odds of winning a major prize. I would like to see a lottery that paid out say 5 million to multi-players with the number of winners based on the purchases.

2/21/2025 07:40 - Andrew S.

$5 is too much for me

2/21/2025 06:25 - Robert T.

From 2 to 5 is a big jump. i start looking for another game to play

2/21/2025 05:15 - john b.

LOVE IT

2/21/2025 11:05 - Anthony G.

I'm paying $3/play now, so another $2 won't hurt. Looking 4ward 2 the changes. Let's Go!!!!

2/21/2025 08:41 - Richard P.

Disgraceful. $5...? Come on now. First of all, we don't need more billionaires. How about a game with more smaller winners, like $5,000,000 for 5 balls. or 4 balls + megaball? These games are too disproportional.

2/20/2025 03:23 - Herbert V.

slap on the face, time to quit

2/19/2025 10:03 - Armondo B.

I have to agree with what seems to be the majority of the opinions posted here. Five dollars per ticket is too much and NC can’t compete with California and New York when it comes to the states where most people win. I won’t play this game anymore.

2/19/2025 09:43 - Russell C.

Very disappointed to read about this change. Price increase will keep me out of this one. Looking like a good time to phase out of lottery as my entertainment...

2/19/2025 09:40 - Edgar B.

$5 is too much for me. How about increasing cash five to $2 and changing the game so that 1-3 million jackpots are common? Thanks

2/19/2025 07:49 - Virgil L.

I thank you because it's a waste of money anyway and I will never buy one for $5

2/19/2025 06:37 - Tarsha M.

I hope that everyone realizes this is not a North Carolina change. The price increase is statewide, it was announced in October 2024. Do I agree it's too much, most definitely. Instead of increasing the prices they should’ve added a day. The days that open are Sundays and Thursdays. However, those days might be for maintenance that we're unaware of. FYI you don’t have to play the mega multiplier it's an option. The change is NOT exciting. They will see a decrease in purchases. Until that jackpot gets higher and more locals win or the statewide change will revert back with adding another day of the week.

2/18/2025 07:16 - Chris P.

I Want be playing at $5 a ticket. It’s unbelievable that mega millions thinks it’s ok to raise the price of tickets 150%

2/18/2025 03:52 - Daniel P.

$5 per, probably an additional $1 or more for the multiplier? Not for me...

2/18/2025 03:43 - Virginia B.

Too much of an increase! Cannot afford that price!

2/18/2025 01:01 - Shenetta R.

That's waaay too much for one ticket. Won't be playing very often.

2/18/2025 12:01 - Jimmy R.

I will not buy Mega Millions any longer when the price increases. Also a lot of other states have Cash4Life lottery game instead of Lucky For Life like we have. It has the same top prize of $1000 a day for life but the 2nd prize is $52000 a year for life but in NC we only get $25000 a year for life! Annnnd ours is not a live drawing but computer generated which can be manipulated.

2/18/2025 11:03 - harry b.

it will cut down on how often I paly.. I have a 30 a month limit.

2/18/2025 02:38 - Syd G.

The increase to $5 is absolutely obscene, and I will NEVER purchase a ticket at that price. Hopefully enough players will boycott the game, which is the only way to send a message that such greed won't be tolerated.

2/17/2025 11:18 - William S.

I agree with the previous comment that this change will lead to a "game gap." I don't plan on playing the new MM - I would like to see the game improved without increasing the price. Jackpots do not need to be in the Billions (with correspondingly difficult odds).

2/17/2025 08:52 - Jaleel A.

I Will not waste my money on the Mega Millions. I would spend $10 for 5 tickets not for 2 tickets!

1/12/2025 11:11 - Kevin P.

You know, this could be a good opportunity for NC to start a larger state lottery beyond Cash 5, something with jackpots around the 1-2 million range with tickets priced around $3. I have the feeling that if the $5 ticket price ends up taking off for Mega Millions then Powerball won't be far behind in raising prices, and that leaves a large gap for a smaller lottery with reasonably priced tickets.

1/10/2025 02:24 - Denver G.

I'll stick to C5 and LFL. I hit $150 twice in Dec on LFL. On C5 hit 4 of 5 twice in Dec for $250 and hit 4/5 last night for $500 on C5 double draw.NC Lottery
That's awesome! Congratulations on the wins, Denver!

1/09/2025 09:54 - Colin M.

I won't play @ $5.

1/09/2025 07:32 - ROBERT D.

Price getting to high, going to have to play something else, way to much money, if over half the people drop out the same amount of money will still be played, crazy

1/09/2025 05:13 - richard m.

bro. these comments. the math skills. the spelling.

1/08/2025 11:07 - Joseph R.

Honestly, they should raise the cost of tickets for CA, NY, TX players since I can literally remember at least 80% of the 1B jackpots being won by CA and NY players. Lucky players? Doubt it! They won't be able to uphold promises of bugger and better jackpots when they only get half of the players in NEW game. Just watch!

No I am not excited about it at all because of two reasons the price is going up, and the winning tickets are always in one of ten states and NC is not one of them! I have bought tickets for all of the games regularly but can’t seem to win anything but small change!!!

1/08/2025 09:09 - Anthony B.

So five drawings is $25 instead of $15 . Well haven't no one has hit the Mega Million in NC anyway anyway

1/08/2025 08:58 - Anthony B.

Nope

1/08/2025 07:08 - Janet C.

$5.00 per ticket…I just can’t do it…

1/08/2025 06:48 - William A.

What’s the new odds to win the jackpot?NC Lottery
Hi, William! We don't have this info at this time, but we'll share more about the new odds once we get closer to the launch of the updated game!

1/08/2025 05:51 - Paul H.

$5... Nope.

1/08/2025 04:34 - Sherry J.

I am going to win!

1/08/2025 03:24 - Chemberly P.

Five $ per play is obscene! This is a game changer, it maybe time to look for a new hobby.

1/08/2025 02:58 - Iurii A.

Well, more expensive tickets = less chances.

1/08/2025 12:42 - Cristie B.

I will no longer purchase Mega Millions tickets. $5.00 per ticket is way too much

1/08/2025 12:14 - Joseph B.

Changes are good for the game I'm having one nothing yet but maybe I will but I'm looking forward to the changes and I'm looking forward to winning something somebody got smart and realized something and that's a good thing thank you for sharing this information and I wish North Carolina good luck with this new direction that you're going. Thank you.NC Lottery
Thanks for the love, Joseph! We're crossing our fingers for you and wishing you a bunch of luck with Mega Millions and beyond!

1/08/2025 09:39 - Steven B.

i will play!!! this sounds much betterNC Lottery
hanks for the positive comment, Steven! We're wishing you lots of luck!

1/08/2025 09:07 - Deborah S.

From $2 to $5 for a draw? Sorry, I won't be plying MM anymore come April. Without knowing what the odds are you are changing with your "Improved odds to win the jackpot", you've reduced my chances of a win by over 83%!!

1/08/2025 08:13 - William A.

$5 per play. You got to be kidding me. We were told when it went up to $2 a ticket jackpots were going to start bigger then Covid hit and they dropped them. It’s a joke you can’t win now. Why would anyone think this is a good idea at Mega Millions. Just another jab in the players back.

1/08/2025 08:02 - June C.

Too expensive for one ticket.

1/08/2025 07:29 - Eugene H.

Wow! I'm sure everyone is elated that they can give their money away to NC faster once the $5 per ticket starts. Improved odds from 1 in 302,575,350 doesn't really give a player any true advantage and the MM jackpots will continue to go to states like CA, NY, Fl. The MM jackpot has only been hit by an NC player 2 times. The most recent was 14 years ago.

1/08/2025 07:11 - David F.

No thanks

1/08/2025 05:06 - Rodney W.

I’m done with Mega Millions as soon as it goes to five dollars a ticket . The price increase is absolutely ridiculous. It is hard enough to win as it is .I have had an online acct. for a few years . I will continue to play other lottery games online but five dollars for a single ticket is insane .

1/08/2025 12:54 - Jon S.

Nope

1/07/2025 11:08 - ROSE M.

NO NOT REALLY MORE MONEY FOR CALF,AND ONLY ONE WINNER.

1/07/2025 10:39 - Laura S.

Hi! This is Laura! Am I win? If so please let me know?.ThanksNC Lottery
Hi, Laura! If you're a winner with an Online Play ticket, or if you win in a second chance or Lucke-Rewards draw, you'll receive an email notifying you of your win with instructions on how to claim your prize.

1/07/2025 10:09 - Larry B.

You need to figure out a formula whereby our Rewards points can be applied to a cash deposit into our online account, e.g. 100 rewards points can be redeemed toward a $1 deposit.NC Lottery
Hi, Larry! We appreciate you sharing this idea with us. The folks in charge of those decisions read comments like these, so the future is full of possibilities!

1/07/2025 09:02 - Warren F.

Not impressed with the much higher ticket cost. May not participate as much, if at all

1/07/2025 08:12 - linda p.

Sounds good hope the new mega change my luck. Good Luck everyone in 2025NC Lottery
We're wishing you lots of luck, Linda!

1/07/2025 06:45 - Donald H.

Tired of not winning anything. I'm especially tired of California and Florida winning the Big ones. I'm done with all of it it!!!!!

1/07/2025 06:05 - Kristena M.

That increases the price 150%! Anytime a company does a major upheaval and restructures something its never good, always for increased profits on THEIR end, not the customer. Secondly, how are poor people supposed to play at a price like this? I never play $5 games for a reason. Your taking that little bit of hope we have in the form oof a few dollars that won't be too missed and charging us like we're rich people gambling at poker. Doesnt the government take enough from the poor already? Now your going to mess with my dreams? The numbers are already to high, 1-70 and y'all keep on increasing it. That's why you see ppl buying 40 tickets just to have a chance. Now those 40 tickets will cost $200!!! And if you played one ticket every day $150!! Not cool. You are creating a monster. And the only people who will be playing is already rich people against all ready rich people. You'll see an increase at first as any new games do, but it will decline quickly as people realize the damage it's causing.

1/07/2025 04:12 - Donna M.

5.00 per play? Nope.

1/07/2025 03:50 - Jack W.

I'd say Mega Million just shot there self in the foot.I am 1 that will not buy any more of there tickets. I'll stick to NC draws.

1/07/2025 03:43 - mike r.

Ohhh. Boy

1/07/2025 03:27 - michael b.

If the mega million ticket is $5 how much is it going to be for the mega plier plierNC Lottery
Hi, Michael! There will be a built-in multiplier with these new tickets, so there won't be an additional charge like there currently is to add Megaplier.

1/07/2025 02:22 - William A.

You know we were told when the ticket price increased we would have bigger starting Jackpots. Then during Covid they reduced the starting pot. I guess after a few years of giving players the old boot sales must be down. I used to win here and there on Mega Millions and Powerball. Not anymore, I can’t remember the last time I won more than $10 dollars on either of these draw games.

1/07/2025 02:05 - william g.

bad move raising price at $1 a ticket I would buy 5 at $2 i get 2 now at $5 i will only get 1

1/07/2025 01:26 - Rudolph P.

Wasn't long ago they increased the price to have bigger starting and faster jackpots. Then they reversed it, but the increased price stayed the same. I'm sure the 10X multiplier will not be appearing a lot.

1/07/2025 01:24 - shirley b.

no one is excited about the price increase. Are you kidding?

1/07/2025 12:55 - Kevin D.

Too much money for a single draw

1/07/2025 12:24 - Patricia G.

So I play the same numbers every time and you say increasing the price will improve my odds of winning even though the pulling of the numbers is completely random, you have no idea who will win and I will probably be buying fewer tickets?NC Lottery
Hi, Patricia! With the game changes, there will be improved odds to win the jackpot when compared to the current jackpot odds. Odds are not dependent on how many people are playing or how many tickets are purchased, but rather how many possible number combinations there are and the odds of matching the jackpot-winning combination!

1/07/2025 11:37 - Angela A.

LOL! We hear better odds to Win the Jackpot, but seems the same old story. Just like the PowerBall starting Jackpot was decreased for COVID-19 and has yet to return to start at 40 Million the World has moved on why hasn't the Jackpot.
