We recently have had a few reports of scammers presenting themselves as the “North Carolina Lottery” on social media. Some have even used the pictures we have shared on our pages.
The fake ads promote an online casino app from the “NC Lottery” and lead viewers to a fake website and fake app from an unofficial website.
We have reported these fraudulent social media posts to Meta. The lottery does not have an online casino app.
If you play the lottery’s Digital Instant games, make sure you’re playing on the NC Education Lottery website, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App found in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
You can lessen the likelihood of falling victim to fraud and scammers. Here’s how:
- Make sure any messages you receive from the N.C. Education Lottery come from our verified social media accounts: facebook / X / instagram / linkedin
- When you engage with us in a fun social media promotion, all we ever need are your name, mailing and/or email address, phone number, and your birthday. We’ll never ask for any kind of payment, bank info, SSNs, or passwords when we message you online.
If you ever feel something could be wrong, please report it by calling our Customer Service team at 877-962-7529 or our security hotline at 888-732-6235.
