Powerball jackpot rises to $629 million for Saturday’s drawing

The Powerball jackpot continues to roll as it now stands at $629 million for Saturday’s drawing.

A winner tonight could claim the jackpot as a $629 million annuity or $294.5 million in cash.

“Saturday’s jackpot is the second largest in the Powerball game this year,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Powerball players have won five jackpots so far this year. We are hoping the sixth win occurs tonight in North Carolina.”

When and where were the five Powerball jackpots won this year?

  • Jan 18, 2025 - $328.5 million – Oregon
  • Mar 29, 2025 - $526.5 million – California
  • Apr 26, 2025 - $167.3 million – Kentucky
  • May 31, 2025 - $204.5 million – California
  • Sept. 6, 2025 - $1.787 billion – Missouri, Texas

 How does the Powerball game benefit North Carolinians?

  • 19,407: The total number of winning tickets in Wednesday’s drawing.
  • $12 million: The estimated amount raised for education on the current Powerball run.

 Players can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

@Angela A. I agree and NC resident need to lay low and not play for a while. They threw 166 again just like that for the 3rd time this month and it’s starting to become ridiculous. We the players know it’s a gamble, but it’s one thing to keep seeing repeated numbers throughout the month, with low payouts. And they love says tight security this and that, yea ok lol

@NCEL you can't make me believe that Yellow ball keep staying till the last ball, because you know that will hype up sells. Then you bring a low paying number or a repeat one of the two or both. We will see how this pans out tonight!

Since the lotteries are for marketing games off franchises, why not do the Hunger Games? Shame to those who contribute to societal collapse through corruption.

If I won, I would take the cash! I’m too old to think an annuity is a good idea. lol And, if I did win, I would give 289 charities, people, whomever $1 million each, still leaving me with more than enough money to live comfortably!!!
