Priscilla Allen of Smithfield took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won $347,251.
Because her lucky ticket was one of three that matched all five numbers in Thursday’s drawing, winners split the $1,041,753 Cash 5 jackpot. The odds of matching all five balls are 1 in 962,598.
Allen bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket from 365 Stores on East Anderson Street in Selma.
Allen claimed $347,251, her share of the jackpot, at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Friday. After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $249,153.
She plans to pay her mortgage with her winnings.
The other two wins occurred with tickets purchased at a Sheetz on Portertown Road in Greenville and at the Best Buy Grocery on Old Stage Road in Raleigh. One of the other two shares of the jackpot was claimed Friday by a Raleigh man.
Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Monday’s jackpot is $130,000.
