The Powerball jackpot shows no signs of slowing down as Monday’s prize now stands at $1.1 billion, the sixth largest in the game’s history.
A winner tonight could claim the jackpot as a $1.1 billion annuity or $503.4 million in cash.
Saturday’s Powerball drawing saw multiple big wins in North Carolina:
- A $3 Power Play ticket purchased at the Food Lion on South New Hope Road in Gastonia won $2 million when the 2X multiplier came up.
- A $2 ticket bought at the Food Lion on Andrews Road in Fayetteville won $50,000.
- A $3 Double Play ticket bought at Charlotte’s Landing on Express Drive in Charlotte won a $500,000 prize in the Double Play drawing. Double Play is a $1 add-on feature that allows players to play their Powerball numbers again in a separate drawing for a chance to win up to $10 million.
Saturday’s big wins made it six straight Powerball drawings with North Carolinians winning prizes of at least $50,000 and four straight with at least a $100,000 winner.
Tonight’s drawing, the 43rd in the jackpot run, will set a new record for most consecutive drawings in a jackpot cycle.
Players can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website or NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
