Linda Rogers of Denton got to celebrate her daughter’s birthday on Saturday by winning a $161,929 Fast Play jackpot.
“What a blessing that is,” she said.
Rogers bought her lucky $2 10X The Cash ticket from Mobil Mart on East Salisbury Street in Denton. At the time of her purchase, the jackpot stood at $809,645. Since Rogers bought a $2 ticket, she received 20% of the progressive jackpot.
“I’ve been wishing for a win like this,” Rogers said. “This is life-changing for me.”
She arrived at lottery headquarters on Monday to collect her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $116,185.
“It still hasn’t set in yet,” she said.
Rogers plans to share her winnings with her family and buy a car.
Fast Play features an instantly growing jackpot that increases with every ticket sold until it is won. As of Tuesday afternoon, the jackpot stands at over $675,000 and counting.
