Ohio woman bags $295,802 Cash 5 jackpot

Chloe Mays of Cleveland, Ohio, took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket on Friday and won a $295,802 jackpot.

Mays, in town visiting family for the holidays, bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket from Clayton Mart on East Main Street in Clayton. The odds of matching all five balls are 1 in 962,598.

She claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Mays took home $212,238.

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Tuesday’s jackpot is $130,000.
