When Anthony Dudley of Smithfield started feeling hungry on Monday, he grabbed a quick bite to eat and left with a $100,000 lottery prize for dessert.
“I just stopped to get a snack,” he recalled, “and somehow my hunger pains turned into fortune.”
Dudley purchased his lucky $20 Win Big ticket from Stallion Tobacco and Vape on N.C. 50 in Angier.
“I was just in the right place at the right time,” he said. “It blew my mind.”
Dudley said he initially thought he won a much smaller prize.
“I saw the one and zero so I thought it was $10,” he laughed. “When I realized how much it was, I was flabbergasted.”
He collected his prize at lottery headquarters Tuesday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,756.
“A win like this can change your whole outlook,” he said. “I’m just tickled to death.”
The Win Big game debuted in October with three $2 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million prizes and three $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
