Savion Lytle of Rock Hill decided to try digital instants on Thursday after his mom suggested he play, and he got rewarded with a $150,000 top prize.
“My mom was actually the one who got me into it,” he said.
Lytle won his big prize while in Charlotte for work. He played $30 on the digital instant game, The Lamp, to win the $150,000 prize. The odds of that win are 1 in 1,000,000.
“It was my first time playing any lottery game,” Lytle laughed.
He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Tuesday in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $107,633.
“This is a blessing,” Lytle said.
He plans to use some of his winnings to help pay for trade school to learn welding.
In The Lamp, a player can play from 50 cents to $30. The top prize that can be won is $150,000.
Digital instant games are played exclusively online on the lottery’s website or on the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Forty-one different games are available to play online now.
