Onslow County man collects first $100,000 prize in new game

Kenneth Allen of Jacksonville tried his luck on a $20 scratch-off and won the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game.

Allen bought his lucky $2 Million Vault ticket from the Whizz Mart on Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville.

He arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim his winnings and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $71,756.

The $2 Million Vault game debuted in May with three top prizes of $2 million and six $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
