Holiday starts with two big jackpot wins

Two lucky lottery players, one in Elm City and the other in Haywood County, started the Fourth of July holiday by winning big jackpots.

The Elm City winner bought a $1 Outlaw’s Loot digital instant ticket and instantly won a Grand Fortune jackpot of $4,703,151 jackpot on Thursday. The odds of that win were 1 in 50 million.

Outlaw’s Loot is a multi-state digital instant game offered now by three lotteries – the N.C. Education Lottery and the Virginia and Pennsylvania lotteries. After Thursday’s big win, the jackpot reset at $150,000 and continues to climb.

The second win occurred when someone won the $318,544 jackpot in Thursday’s Cash 5 drawing. The lucky winner purchased the ticket at the Maggie Valley Mart on Soco Road in Maggie Valley in Haywood County.

The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598. The jackpot for tonight’s Fourth of July drawing will be $100,000.

Both winners have 180 days to claim the prize.

@NCEL this is great, but why has there not been any other BIG WINS on the none progressive games for the lower price ranges? Like the $2500 for .50 or the $5000 for $1? I have been playing still day one and yet to get a prize like that and have lost a ton of money doing so!NC Lottery
Hi, Angela! We see lots of big winners in those amounts, but we generally only post blog stories about $100,000+ wins from Digital Instants, as those winners would come into Lottery HQ to claim. Wins of $5,000 or more are public info in NC, and if you wanted more info about wins, you can submit a public records request at https://records.lotterync.net.

Does the lottery publish which of the larger non-jackpot Digital Instant wins are still available (like $100,000 wins?). I know you do this for scratches, and it would be great to see this for online games too, as maybe some of the large wins for particular games are already won? Thanks!NC Lottery

Only one of the top prizes for an old $5 game, $400,000 Jackpot, has been won. Just FYI if you see this ticket buy a couple. The tickets are usually found in convenience stores.
