The Powerball jackpot received a $50 million boost on Friday to reach a major milestone as North Carolinians can have fun Labor Day weekend playing for a $1 billion prize.
A winner on Saturday could claim the jackpot as a $1 billion annuity or $453.1 million in cash.
Saturday’s jackpot weighs in as the largest since the April 6, 2024 Powerball drawing when an Oregon man won a $1.3 billion jackpot.
While North Carolinians keep trying for the jackpot, some players are winning other big prizes. A player in Charlotte won a $100,000 prize in Saturday’s drawing, a player in Coats won a $150,000 prize in Monday’s drawing, and one lucky ticket won $50,000 in Wednesday’s drawing. That ticket came from Online Play in Wake Forest.
North Carolina lottery players have another chance to play for a big prize Friday night as the Mega Millions jackpot stands at a $277 million annuity or $124.6 million cash.
Players can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location, through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or from the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
