Johnston County woman wins $2 million, her second big lottery prize

Jennifer Kleinendorst of Willow Spring tried her luck on a $20 scratch-off and won a $2 million top prize, her second major lottery win.

Kleinendorst previously won the $250,000 grand prize in the 2025 Multiply The Cash Second Chance drawing in June.

Her $2 million win came on a lucky 100X The Cash scratch-off from Hill Top on North Main Street in Fuquay-Varina.

When Kleinendorst arrived at lottery headquarters Monday, she had a decision to make. She could choose to receive her prize as an annuity of $100,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $1.2 million. She chose the lump sum of $1.2 million and, after required tax withholdings, took home $861,006.

The 100X The Cash game debuted in January with four $2 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million prizes and two $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

I feel like that’s a bit messed up. You won 2 million but you dont get it really. you have to take it in payments over 20 years. Which you never know whether you’re gonna make it or not or you have to lower your amount and then it be taxed like crazy and end up leaving with less than half. something doesn’t seem right. The only way I would do annuity is if I could leave it for someone or my kids to make sure that they do end up paying out since I paid in.NC Lottery

We wanted to share that if a player chooses the annuity option and passes away before receiving all of the payments, they are still guaranteed those remaining payments: winners will receive 20 years of annual payments, and any remaining payments after their passing would be paid to their estate.

NCEL, selling fraud in the name of charity is fraud. It's one of the worst kinds of fraud. And if any of these multi state lotteries are misleading the public for financial gain, those knowingly involved should be indicted on RICO charges.
