The power of positive thinking paid off for Audrey Peele of Wilmington when a $20 scratch-off delivered the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game.
“I always thought I would win big one day,” Peele said. “In my mind, I manifested it.”
She bought her lucky Ruby Red 7's ticket from the Scotchman on Country Club Road in Hampstead.
“I went to the store looking for the new tickets,” Peele said. “I like playing the new games.”
Even though Peele always believed she would win big, it still surprised her Monday night.
“I wasn’t expecting to see all those zeroes,” she said.
Peele immediately wanted to share the news of her big win.
“I called my wife and told her I just won 100 grand,” Peele recalled. “She didn’t believe me because I kid with her a lot.”
Peele arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,756.
She plans to use her winnings to pay off her car.
The Ruby Red 7's game debuted this month with three $2 million top prizes and nine $100,000 prizes. Three $2 million prizes and eight $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
