Patricia Hockaday of Raleigh advances another round to become one of 12 finalists with a chance at winning a $1 million prize as part of the NASCAR Powerball Playoff™ promotion.
Hockaday’s luck started when she entered her Powerball ticket into the NASCAR Powerball Playoff™ second-chance drawing in May. The field that started with 16 finalists was cut to 12 in an announcement earlier tonight during the broadcast of the Bass Pro Shops Night Race in Bristol, TN on USA Network and HBO Max.
The 12 players will continue through a series of drawings similar to the elimination rounds of the NASCAR Playoffs. The four players left after the final elimination drawing will win a VIP trip for two to NASCAR Championship Weekend™ in Phoenix, Oct. 31 – Nov. 2, plus entry into the drawing for a $1 million prize. Each will have a one in four chance of winning $1 million.
The $1 million winner will be announced live during NBC’s pre-race coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race™ on Sunday, Nov. 2.
The next elimination drawing will occur on Oct. 5 during the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The four lottery players eliminated there will win $2,500 each.
Players can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location, through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or from the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
