Emily Praytor of Lexington had a car ride she’ll never forget Saturday night when she scratched off a $100,000 lottery prize.
Praytor scratched the ticket in the car while her husband drove. At the same time, her son made a prediction from the backseat.
“He said, ‘I hope you win on number 55,’” Praytor recalled, “and that was the winning number on my ticket.”
She bought her lucky $30 MAX-A-MILLION ticket from the Quality Mart on Cotton Grove Road in Lexington.
“I was like, ‘Did we really win this?’” Praytor said. “I couldn’t believe it.”
She arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,758.
“This is pretty awesome,” she said.
Praytor, a mother of three boys, plans to use her winnings to do some home renovations and put the rest in savings.
The MAX-A-MILLION game debuted in March with 25 top prizes of $1 million and 10 prizes of $100,000. Nineteen $1 million prizes and eight $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
