Christopher Hicks from New Bern took a chance on a $20 scratch-off and won a $100,000 prize.
Hicks bought his lucky $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe ticket from Fairfield Fuel Market on Broad Creek Road in New Bern.
He arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to claim his prize and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $71,756.
The $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe game debuted in December 2023 with four $2 million top prizes and eight $100,000 prizes. Three $2 million prizes and one $100,000 prize remain to be claimed.
