Yolanda Black of Charlotte said the timing works out perfectly for her after she won the first $100,000 prize in a new scratch-off game.
“I just bought a new home,” she said. “Someone told me, ‘New home, new money.’”
Black bought the lucky Stacks of Cash ticket from Cigarettes & More on Pineville-Matthews Road in Charlotte. She then took the ticket home to scratch it.
“I jumped for joy,” Black said recalling her winning moment. “Then I told my husband.”
She arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to claim the prize. After required state and federal tax withholdings, Black took home $72,016.
She plans to use her winnings to help furnish her new home.
The Stacks of Cash game debuted this month with three $2 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Three $2 million top prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
