An emotional scene broke out in a Union County convenience store after Taylor Lee of Waxhaw bought a $5 scratch-off and won a $150,000 top prize.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, Oh my God,’” she recalled. “I started freaking out.”
Lee bought her lucky Holiday Cashword ticket from Crossroads Grill on North Broome Street in Waxhaw. She said other customers in the store noticed her reaction.
“People were looking at me like I was crazy,” Lee laughed.
She then shared the news of her big win with her family.
“They were all really happy for me,” Lee said.
She arrived Friday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $108,016.
Lee plans to use her winnings to possibly buy a new Toyota.
The Holiday Cashword game debuted in November with three $150,000 top prizes. One $150,000 prize remains to be claimed.
