Michelle Dove of New Bern couldn’t wait to tell the rest of her family after a $20 scratch-off from her husband won her a $100,000 prize.
“Everybody has been pretty tickled and excited for us,” Dove said.
The lucky 100X The Cash ticket came from Five Points Food Mart on Broad Street in New Bern. Dove scratched the ticket at her home with her husband.
“I was like, ‘It’s a winner!’” Dove said recalling her winning moment. “It was really exciting.”
She arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to claim her prize and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $72,016.
“That’s a beautiful thing,” Dove said when she received her big check.
She plans to use her winnings to possibly buy a new car.
