Judith Womack of Broadway took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket on Friday and won a $674,860 jackpot.
Womack bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket from Value Mart on Carthage Street in Sanford. The odds of matching all five balls playing Cash 5 are 1 in 962,598.
She claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Womack took home $485,967.
Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Wednesday’s jackpot is $140,000.
