Amanda Lawrence of Denton immediately started crying on Saturday after she won a brand-new 2026 BMW X3 SUV in the Race to Riches lottery promotion at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“It’s like a dream. Somebody pinch me,” Lawrence said after winning. “It’s a BMW. Who doesn’t want a BMW?”
Lawrence was one of twelve lucky North Carolinians selected in a Lucke-Rewards online drawing to attend the promotion.
Each contestant participated in a gameshow-style competition where they chose numbers to reveal cash prizes and, for one lucky player, a new car.
Lawrence picked the number that revealed the grand prize BMW.
“I am so thankful, overwhelmed with joy,” Lawrence said. “I don’t have a car payment anymore. This has been awesome.”
The experience also included a major dose of adrenaline as players strapped into racecars and sped around a track at speeds reaching 110 miles per hour.
After her turn in the passenger seat, Dawn Bland of Durham said, “It’s the most phenomenal, wonderful thing ever.”
“I can’t think of a better experience,” Bland said.
