Susan Messer of Forest City saw a scratch-off she liked so she tried her luck and walked away with a $100,000 top prize.
“It looked good to me that morning,” Messer said recalling her decision to choose that ticket.
She bought her lucky $100,000 Cash Payday scratch-off from the Drop-In on West Main Street in Forest City.
“I was shocked and appreciative,” Messer said. “It’s overwhelming.”
She arrived at lottery headquarters Thursday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,018.
“This is going to help a whole lot,” she said.
Messer plans to use her winnings to pay bills and save.
The $100,000 Cash Payday game debuted in March with 80 $100,000 top prizes. Fifty-one $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
