Jermel Haywood of Durham tried her luck in a second-chance drawing and won a $250,000 grand prize.
Haywood won the top prize Feb. 4 in the fourth of four 2025 Multiply The Cash Second Chance drawings. There were more than 58 million total entries in the drawing.
She arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday to collect her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $180,025.
Players got a second chance with their Multiply the Cash scratch-off tickets by scanning them into their lottery accounts where they were automatically entered into the drawing. In addition to the $250,000 top prize, the drawing had four $20,000 winners and 20 winners of $500. A new 2026 Multiply The Cash Second Chance promotion is currently underway.
