David Sutton of Kinston took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won a $250,000 top prize.
Sutton bought his lucky 20X The Cash ticket from Prime Food Mart on Rouse Road in Kinston.
He arrived Thursday at lottery headquarters to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $180,026.
The 20X The Cash game debuted in January with 15 $250,000 top prizes. Thirteen $250,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
